It depends on your workspace's Poll Creation Access setting. Workspace admins and owners can always create polls. Other members can if access is set to "Everyone", or if they're in a permitted department / user list. If you're blocked, the bot tells you who to ask.

In the web dashboard at /dashboard → Access. Pick one of four levels: Everyone, None (only owners), Specific departments, or Specific users. Changes take effect the moment you click Save.

Yes — every plan includes polls. The Free plan caps you at 5 polls per month per workspace, which works fine for small teams. Pro and Business plans get unlimited polls.

Yes. Clicking a different option moves their vote, and the counts update immediately. Voters can also remove their vote entirely by clicking the option they already chose.

When enabled, the poll only shows aggregate counts ("4 votes") instead of names under each option. The bot still knows who voted (so it can prevent duplicates), but no Slack message ever exposes individual votes.

Yes — the bot needs to be a member of the channel (the channel picker only shows channels the bot can post to). Add the bot to the channel first, then create the poll.

Yes — /celebrate poll opens the same modal directly without going through App Home. Useful if you're already typing in a channel and want to skip a click.

Polls stay open as long as the message exists in Slack — there's no built-in deadline. To "close" a poll, hit Edit and change the question to make the result clear, or just stop sharing the link.
